In the gentle light of this new morning, I humbly bow to the wisdom of the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Sangha. Aware of the transient nature of life, I seek to walk the path of wisdom and understanding.
I open my heart and mind to the teachings of the Enlightened One, acknowledging the truth in the verse from the Dhammapada:
"Though all his life a fool associates with a wise man, he no more comprehends the Truth than a spoon tastes the flavor of the soup."
May I not be the spoon, but the tongue that tastes the flavor of wisdom. May I not merely associate with wisdom, but embody it. May I not just hear the truth, but understand it.
Help me, oh Buddha, to learn from the wise, to seek truth and understanding rather than idle chatter. Let me be open to the teachings of those wiser than I, for the world is an ocean of wisdom, each drop a chance to learn and grow.
In my words, thoughts, and actions, may I reflect the teachings of the Buddha. In my interactions with others, may I be a beacon of compassion, understanding, and wisdom.
May I not be blinded by ignorance, or led astray by misguided desires. May the light of wisdom guide me through the darkness of ignorance, illuminating my path towards enlightenment.
As I go about my day, let me be mindful, aware, and present in each moment, cherishing the fleeting nature of life. Let me be grateful for the wisdom I have acquired, and eager for the wisdom yet to come.
I end this prayer with a mantra to guide me through my day, a gentle reminder of the path towards enlightenment:
"Be not the spoon but the tongue, tasting wisdom in each moment."
May all beings be happy, may all beings be safe, may all beings awaken to the light of their true nature. So be it.
