In the quietness of morning, I open my heart and mind to the sacred teachings of the Dhamma, the eternal truth that leads to peace.
May the wisdom of the Buddha guide my thoughts, words and actions throughout this day.
Better than reciting a hundred meaningless verses,
Is the reciting of one verse of Dhamma,
Hearing which one attains peace.
Just as a single lamp dispels the darkness,
So does a single verse of Dhamma,
Clear the mind of ignorance and uncertainty.
May I be like the lotus, rising above the muddy waters of delusion,
Rooted in the soil of compassion, blooming in the light of wisdom.
Just as the fragrance of a flower does not go against the wind,
May my words and actions not go against the Dhamma,
But flow gently along the path of kindness and understanding.
May I always remember that peace is not a destination, but a way of journeying,
May I walk gently, speak kindly, and live mindfully.
Better than reciting a hundred meaningless verses,
Is the reciting of one verse of Dhamma,
Hearing which one attains peace.
As I go through my day, may this verse be my guiding light,
A beacon of wisdom in the midst of confusion,
A source of comfort in times of distress,
A bridge to cross over the river of suffering.
May all beings be happy,
May all beings be peace,
May all beings be free from suffering.
For the rest of this day and all to come, I will carry this verse in my heart:
"Better than reciting a hundred meaningless verses,
Is the reciting of one verse of Dhamma,
Hearing which one attains peace."
May this be my mantra, my refuge, my path to peace.
