In the calmness of this new dawn,
I seek the wisdom of the Great Sage,
To guide me on the noble path,
Unfolding in the silence of my heart.
May I be watchful of my speech,
May each word echo compassion and truth,
Let no harm lie in my tongue,
For words hold the power to heal or to wound.
May I be well-controlled in mind,
Resisting the illusion of desire and fear,
In this moment, in this breath,
Let mindfulness be my vigilant seer.
May I abstain from evil in bodily action,
May my deeds reflect kindness and love,
In every step, in every touch,
Let gentleness be my guiding glove.
In speech, in thought, in action,
May I purify these three courses,
For this is the path made known by the Buddha,
This is the way to the true source.
May all beings be free from suffering,
May all beings know peace and joy,
In the interconnectedness of all,
May we realize we are not separate, but a shared alloy.
And as I journey through this day,
I hold this mantra in my heart's bay,
"Watchful speech, controlled mind, pure action,
This is the path, the Buddha's direction."
May it be so.
