In the gentle light of this fresh morning, I bow in profound gratitude to the awakened ones, the Buddhas, who guide us on the path of wisdom.
As I reflect on the words of The Dhammapada, I am reminded of the gold coin of refined value - pure, blameless, and worthy of praise even from the gods. May I strive to be such a one, imbued with patience, kindness, understanding and compassion, whose actions are rooted in mindfulness, and whose words are spoken with love.
May I not be quick to anger, but instead, cultivate a heart of peace. May I not foster conflict but foster harmony. May I not seek to harm but to heal. May I not react with aggression but respond with gentleness.
Just as a gold coin, refined and pure, is unblemished by the fires that shape it, may my spirit, too, remain untarnished by the challenges I face. May I grow not in hardness but in humility, not in ego but in empathy, not in resentment but in resilience.
As I journey on this path, may I be a beacon of peace and love, radiating warmth and light to all beings I encounter. May my actions be praise-worthy, and my words be filled with wisdom.
For this, I seek your guidance, O enlightened ones. I am open to your teachings, ready to learn, ready to grow, ready to become as worthy as a coin of refined gold.
And so, I end this prayer with a mantra to guide me through the day, a gentle reminder of my commitment to this path:
"Patience, kindness, understanding and compassion - these are my guiding lights."
May I repeat this mantra throughout my day, grounding my thoughts, words, and actions in its profound truth.
Patience, kindness, understanding and compassion - these are my guiding lights. Patience, kindness, understanding and compassion - these are my guiding lights. Patience, kindness, understanding and compassion - these are my guiding lights.
In the wisdom of the Dhammapada, I take refuge. In the teachings of the enlightened ones, I find my path. With this mantra, I shape my day. So be it.
