In the gentle light of dawn, I humbly sit in silence,
Embracing the wisdom of Buddha, the enlightened one.
As I inhale the breath of life and exhale the winds of impermanence,
I call upon the teachings of the Dhammapada to guide my day.
In the realm of my heart, I acknowledge the rising anger,
Like a chariot unchecked, it threatens to lead me astray.
Yet, with the wisdom of the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha,
I vow to harness this energy, to steer it with compassion and awareness.
Just as the true charioteer controls the rolling chariot,
So too, I shall master this anger, this blinding illusion.
For I am not a mere holder of reins, but a mindful navigator,
Guided by the light of Buddha's teachings, I steer my chariot along the path of peace.
In the face of adversity, may I remember,
Anger is not my enemy, but a signal to heed,
A call to practice patience, understanding, and love,
A reminder to let go, to forgive, and to heal.
With every breath I take, may I cultivate loving-kindness,
With every step I take, may I tread the path of mindfulness.
As the charioteer of my life, I choose the path of wisdom,
For in checking my anger, I embrace the Buddha within me.
In the silence of this morning, I make this vow,
To live each moment with awareness, with compassion, with wisdom.
To be a true charioteer, not merely a holder of reins,
For in the mastery of anger, lies the mastery of life.
As I rise from this prayer, I carry these words in my heart,
A mantra to guide me, to remind me, to inspire me:
"Breathe in peace, breathe out love. Be a true charioteer."
May this be my compass, today and every day.
"Breathe in peace, breathe out love. Be a true charioteer."
