In the tranquil hour of dawn, I stand in the presence of the Universe, my heart open, my mind clear.
Being mindful of the teachings of the Buddha, I reflect upon the verse from The Dhammapada, chapter 13 verse 172: "He who having been heedless is heedless no more, illuminates this world like the moon freed from clouds."
In the silence of this moment, I acknowledge my past heedlessness. I recognize the times when my mind was clouded by ignorance, by selfish desires, by misplaced anger. In this moment of clarity, I choose to be heedless no more.
May the wisdom of the Buddha guide me towards right understanding. May the compassion of the Buddha inspire me towards right action. May the serenity of the Buddha lead me towards right mindfulness.
As the moon shines brightly, free from clouds, may my thoughts, words, and actions illuminate this world. May my life be a beacon of peace, of love, of wisdom, in the vast expanse of Samsara.
In the spirit of the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha, I vow to cultivate mindfulness, to nurture compassion, to seek wisdom.
May I be a refuge for those lost in the storms of life. May I be a source of solace for those engulfed in the fires of suffering. May I be a beacon of hope for those shrouded in the darkness of ignorance.
In the footsteps of the Buddha, I walk. In the light of the Dharma, I see. In the love of the Sangha, I grow.
As I move forward into the day, let me carry this prayer in my heart, let it guide my actions, let it shape my words, let it color my thoughts.
Ending mantra: "Illuminated, I illuminate. Free from clouds, I shine brightly like the moon."
May this mantra remind me to be mindful, to be compassionate, to be wise – to illuminate this world as the moon, free from clouds.
Namo Buddhaaya.
