In the tranquil dawn of this new day, I turn my heart towards the teachings of the Dhammapada, and the wisdom of the enlightened.
As the sun rises, so too does my consciousness awaken, reflecting the words of the virtuous, forsaking attachments, and yearning not for the fleeting pleasures of the world. May I remember to renounce all that binds me, for in detachment, there is liberation.
As the morning dew kisses the grass, I embrace the path of the wise, unswayed by the winds of joy or sorrow. Like the mountain that stands firm amid the changing seasons, may I remain unmoved by the dualities of happiness and sorrow, reaching a state of equanimity.
As the lotus blooms untouched by the muddy waters, I strive to live in the world yet remain unstained by it. May the light of wisdom guide me on this journey of life, helping me to see beyond the veil of illusion.
In the silence of the dawn, I honour the Buddha within me, the Dharma that guides me, and the Sangha that supports me. I vow to live mindfully, with compassion and understanding, walking gently upon the Earth.
In the spirit of the Buddha's teachings, I end this prayer with the mantra: "Gate, Gate, Paragate, Parasamgate, Bodhi Svaha" - Gone, Gone, Gone beyond, Gone utterly beyond, Enlightenment hail!
May I remember this throughout the day, as a reminder of my commitment to the path of wisdom, compassion, and enlightenment. May all beings be happy, may all beings be free.
