In the soft light of dawn, I call upon the wisdom of the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Sangha.
I awaken my heart and mind, acknowledging the sacredness of this new day. With humble gratitude, I am here in the present moment, ready to receive the teachings of the Dhammapada.
With the promise of verse twenty-four in the Appamadavagga, I strive to be energetic, mindful and pure in conduct. May my actions be guided by discernment and self-control, righteousness and heedfulness.
Just as the brilliant sun rises to illuminate the world, may I too rise above ignorance and delusion. In every thought, word and deed, may I embody the holy qualities of energy, mindfulness, purity, discernment, self-control, righteousness and heedfulness.
Ever growing is my glory, ever shining is my light. Ever present is my mindfulness, ever constant is my fight. Against the currents of desire, against the winds of hate, I stand strong, rooted in Dhamma, unshaken by fate.
May this day be filled with mindful moments, may I tread the Middle Path with grace. With every breath, I invite wisdom and compassion to fill this space.
In the face of challenges, may I remember the teachings of the Buddha. In every joy and sorrow, may I find the equanimity of the Dhamma. In every interaction, may I embody the loving-kindness of the Sangha.
And as the day ends and night falls, may I rest in the peace of knowing I have lived the best I could, following the Buddha's noble footsteps, within the forest of my own understanding.
For the benefit of all beings, may I continue to grow, learn and transform. With the wisdom of the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Sangha, may my journey be adorned with love and compassion.
And so, I end this prayer with a simple mantra, a guiding light for the day, "Energetic, mindful, pure, discerning, self-controlled, righteous, heedful, I am."
May we all be well, happy and peaceful. May we all be free from suffering. May we all find liberation in this very life.
Svāhā! (So be it!)
Energetic, mindful, pure, discerning, self-controlled, righteous, heedful, I am.
