In the soft embrace of the morning sun, I stand before the boundless universe, opening my heart to the wisdom of the Dhammapada, and humbling myself to the teachings of the Buddha.
As I breathe in the freshness of the new day, I reflect upon the verse from the Papavagga, chapter 9, verse 127. I am reminded that neither in the sky, nor in mid-ocean, or in the deepest mountain clefts, can I escape the consequences of my actions. O, how profound is the law of Karma, the fruit of my deeds, good and evil.
I bow to the Buddha, the Enlightened One, who teaches that actions have consequences. Just as a seed, once sown, will inevitably sprout, so too, will my deeds bear fruit, in this life or in another.
May I be guided by the wisdom of this verse throughout my day. May I be mindful of my thoughts, my words, and my actions. Let me act with compassion, with kindness, and with understanding, aware that each action I take shapes my destiny.
In this moment of quiet reflection, I seek the courage to face the results of my past deeds, be they good or bad. I seek the strength to act with wisdom and compassion, creating a future of peace and happiness.
I am humbly reminded that there is no place in the world where I may escape from the results of my evil deeds. May I live each moment mindfully, causing no harm, living in harmony with all beings, and cultivating goodness in my heart.
As I step forth into the day, I carry with me this solemn understanding, and I affirm my commitment to the path of mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom.
Let me end this prayer with a simple mantra, a beacon to guide my actions throughout the day: "Mindfulness in action, compassion in heart, wisdom in mind."
May this prayer and mantra guide me on my path, from this day forth, and all the days of my life.
