In the serene glow of the morning light, I humbly sit in presence, grounding myself in the wisdom of the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. I take refuge in the three jewels, abiding in their guidance as the dawn breaks, a symbol of awakening.
With palms joined and heart open, I contemplate the verse from the sacred Dhammapada, the Lokavagga: The World, verse 167.
"Follow not the vulgar way; live not in heedlessness; hold not false views; linger not long in worldly existence."
In the silent embrace of the new day, I vow to uphold this wisdom. I will not tread the path of the vulgar, I will not surrender to heedlessness. I will strive to discern the true nature of existence, and reject the illusion of worldly attachments.
May I keep my mind clear of delusion, my heart free from hatred, and my actions guided by compassion. In every moment, may I remember the impermanence of worldly existence, cherishing the preciousness of this human life.
With steadfast diligence, may I cultivate the right view, understanding the Four Noble Truths and the interdependence of all phenomena. May I remain mindful of the Eightfold Path, living in harmony with the Dharma and contributing to the liberation of all sentient beings.
I honor the Buddha within me and all around, appreciating the interplay of form and emptiness, and recognizing the interconnectedness of existence.
As I rise with the sun, I carry this prayer in my heart, as a beacon guiding my journey through the day.
And as a mantra to be echoed throughout the day, I affirm:
"Guided by wisdom, free from delusion, I dwell in mindfulness, unattached to the worldly."
May this prayer bring peace, clarity, and compassion to all beings. May all beings be free from suffering. May all beings attain enlightenment. So be it.
